Advance Healthcare Directive

An Advance Healthcare Directive, also called an Advance Decision, is a written statement refusing specific medical treatments in the future if the person loses capacity.
It must be clear, valid, and applicable to the situation. If it meets legal criteria, healthcare professionals must follow it, even if it results in death.
